Overview

This course is designed to equip the students with the knowledge and skills, necessary to provide CPR - Cardiopulmonary Resuscitation, the correct use and operation of BA - Breathing Apparatus and fire response by operating firefighting equipment. - Recognize the emergency - the first step in raising the fire alarm is to recognize the emergency and call for help immediately.

- Types of fires.

- Fire behaviour, including how it spreads, how it consumes fuel and how it reacts to different types of firefighting tactics.

- Fire suppression and extinguishing by using the correct firefighting equipment.

- Providing CPR is a live-saving technique on how to correctly position the person, check for breathing, chest compressions and rescue breaths.

- Repeat - understand the requirements of performing CPR until medical help arrives or the person starts breathing normally.

- Ability to identify the environments and circumstances, where breathing apparatus are required.

- Thorough understanding of the guidelines, processes, and requirement on how to use breathing apparatus safely and correctly.

- Life-saving skill to calculate the consumption rate - amount of oxygen in the bottle, full and a working duration, and a safety margin.

-Proper and safe maintenance, refill, and storage of breathing apparatus.

Student who are deemed competent will received a statement of attainment in the following unit of competencies:

HLTAID009 - Provide Cardiopulmonary Resuscitation.
MSMWHS216 - Operate breathing apparatus.
CPPFES2005 - Demonstrate first attack firefighting equipment

This certification is nationally recognised under the Australian Qualifications Framework. The statement of attainment is issued by Certified Training Resources Australia (CTRA) - RTO no. 45826

Certificate Validity
Recommended refresher within 12 months from the date issued

Entry Requirements into the Course:

The course includes a CPR unit which requires:

Physical attributes requirements

Students must, among other things, be able to perform at least 2 minutes of uninterrupted single rescuer cardiopulmonary resuscitation (CPR) (5 cycles of both compressions and ventilations) on an adult resuscitation manikin placed on the floor, in order to be deemed as competent. They also must 

be able to perform at least 2 minutes of uninterrupted single rescuer CPR (5 cycles both compressions 

and ventilations) on an infant resuscitation manikin placed on a firm surface.

Students must also be able to perform manual handling tasks safely.

Therefore, prospective students need to have the physical attributes to be able to:

  •  Bring themselves to floor level to perform the above task.
  •  Perform each of the above tasks uninterrupted for two minutes.
  •  Have the physical capacity to perform manual handling tasks safely. 

CTR Australia also has requirements that must be met by all students to enter this course.

At the time of enrolment students must:

  • be 18 years or older.
  • must have sound language, literacy, and numeracy skills (tested at the time of enrolment)

Payment and Refund

Payment

  • Fee Administration: CTR Australia adheres to fair and reasonable fee administration practices, charging fees only for accredited training as per the published fee information. Accurate records of course fee payments, waivers, exemptions, or refunds will be maintained for each student.
  • Fee Payment Arrangements: Students are required to pay fees in full before the commencement of training. Failure to pay fees may result in the suspension of learning or assessments until all fee payments are up to date.
  • Outstanding Student Fees: Non-payment of fees may lead to the suspension of training until payment is finalized. In such cases, CTR Australia reserves the right to charge a recommencement fee for suspended training and will withhold the issuance of Statements of Attainment until all outstanding fees are settled.

Refunds

  • Accessibility: CTR Australia’s refund policy is publicly available to all stakeholders, including prospective and existing students and employers. Students will be made aware of the refund policy before enrolment to ensure transparency and informed decision-making.
  • Refund Request Process: Refund requests must be submitted in writing via email to training@ctra.com.au. CTR Australia evaluates requests based on the provided information and may consider exemptions for mitigating circumstances with supporting evidence.
  • Refund Period: Refund requests must be lodged within 7 calendar days of the enrolment application date to be considered for processing.
  • Refund Calculation: Refunds are subject to a non-refundable administration fee of 25% of the full course fee payable (non-discounted). Refunds are granted for withdrawals within the refund period, subject to administrative deductions.
  • Refund Processing: CTR Australia processes refund requests within 1 week of receipt and reimburses approved refunds within 4 weeks. Refunds are paid to the original fee payer.
  • Non-Refundable Scenarios: Refunds will not be issued for commenced courses, changes to work hours, relocation, or incomplete qualifications after assessment. However, consideration for refunds may be provided at the discretion of the CEO/Administration Manager.
  • Course Cancellation: In the event of course cancellation by CTR Australia, full refunds will be provided, and alternative options for attendance will be offered where possible.
  • Continuous Improvement: CTR Australia’s Administration Manager ensures compliance with the policy and implements continuous improvement processes to enhance fee administration and refund procedures.
